But it’s 2022?

Society has become more accepting over the past few years, which is an amazing feat that many have fought for over the decades.

But, just because you may see these festivals, or these companies changing their logos, or a new television series about gay teen romance, doesn’t mean that being gay is easier now than before.

Many people still live in hiding, scared of their family, scared of their community, scared of their religion, and what will happen if people were to find out.

This does not downplay the accomplishments of the LGBTQ+ community or the wonderful era that we now live in where people can be open in certain circumstances.

However, that reality is not for everyone.

A friend of mine

A friend of mine is gay.

But he fights with himself every day because of how he feels.

His “ best friends” outed him after he worked up the courage to tell them after years and years of internal struggle.

He now deals with rumors, lies, judgment, and mixed reactions every day.
