Prioritisation Has Become a Process After Moving Out
Deciding the do’s and don’ts while adjusting to a new lifestyle
If you don’t note an idea as soon as it pops in your head, it is so volatile it’ll vanish before you know it. That’s why I take my phone everywhere. Whenever I think of an important idea, I record it to convert to a blog post at a future date.
The idea for this blog came yesterday.
The idea came while shopping
Recently I went grocery shopping with my flatmate. A day before that, he stayed the night somewhere else.
He went there to learn a cooking recipe for banana cake.
Earlier, we tried two times one day. It failed. That’s why we wanted to do it the right way, for once.
The realisation about time management
While we were shopping yesterday, we realised we are wasting a lot of time doing everything we want. For example, if you have a job that keeps you busy, then you cannot do it efficiently while managing all the daily chores like cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.
Just as my father used to say, “Do what you know best.” Before I lived in a PG, so this advice didn’t feel necessary. Now I’m in a flat. I think about it. It takes a lot of time if you want to do everything, including cooking, cleaning, laundry while managing professional life too.
For high efficiency, do what you know best
We finally came up with the idea of giving more tasks to the maid. Earlier, we didn’t have any maid. We used to do everything by ourselves. Slowly, we assigned her the cleaning tasks.
When we thought of saving more time, we assigned her cooking too. Although we do like cooking on our own, it is more on the experimental level. When we are free, we do it. Let’s see how creative we can get.
For now, we are focussing on our professional lives and how we can improve it.
We wanted to do everything on our own to save money and learn new things. It turns out, and there is a lot to learn in our current life itself. Job, relationships, family, friends — they are a handful.
Instead of giving a large chunk of our day doing tasks that can be handled by a professional, we can focus more on things that we’re good at, and we want to become better with practice.
Cooking is not one of them. It is just a hobby, and we experiment with it now and then.
