So here are 5 simple ways to motivate your employees (I’ve personally tried them all)

  1. Offer feedback and praise. By giving away feedback you actually allow your employees to monitor their own development and improvement in the company. Some managers out there believe they should give away feedback only when a problem has arisen but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. If you spare the positive feedback and praise, you risk making your employees feel unappreciated. This would certainly decrease their motivation to perform in the best way possible.
  2. Include monetary bonuses. When an employee does outstandingly well, you can further motivate them by adding a monetary bonus along with positive feedback. This would surely make them feel even more appreciated. Another great option is to create a bonus system so that each month a dedicated employee can strive for improvement.
  3. Engage with scheduling awesome team-building experiences. And I’m not only referring to those annual outside-of-town gatherings. Think of simpler ways to show appreciation to your employees. Take them to a bowling game (I once did and it was super funny). Take them out for a drink after working hours. That sort of thing.
  4. Offer the opportunity for your employees to climb the professional ladder. A great source of motivation for people is knowing they can further spread their wings. Receiving a promotion will certainly make them come to the office with a smile on their face.
  5. Take care of their further professional development financially. I’m talking about paying for internships, courses, seminars, lectures, workshops, etc. Let your employees feel confident enough to reach you with a request to attend an improvement course based on their career field. This type of investment will not only boost their motivation but will also benefit your company in the long run.
