“Ukrainians don’t measure time in months or days. We measure it in lives lost.”

Such are the sad words of a Ukrainian teenager.

Rachel is the ‘Director of Safe Passage 4 Ukraine sp4ukraine.org and protectavolunteer.com which are both organizations that help foreign military volunteers in Ukraine.’

For over one year Ukrainians have lived in fear. Even if they don’t live in the areas being directly bombed, they know it, the feel it, they hear it. And they wonder when they might be next.

In our busy lives it’s easy to forget the day-to-day happenings in Ukraine.

We shed tears when we watch things on television.

But for the most part, unless a collection tin is shoved in our faces, it’s easy to forget.

When the bush fires in the NSW south coast were raging (Canberra’s holiday playground), everyone gave generously and that’s because retail groups got together to help.
