Rage

A paroxysm of rage
Burns the lid of reason
Spitting absent rhymes
Drunken slurs of treason

Whipped words break skin
Pierces both foe and kin
Clenched teeth keeps under lock
Reason from surfacing to the dock

Carcasses salted by tears
Stitched your greatest fears
Wear the dress of regret
Lest you ever forget
The animal in the cage
is you
swallowed by rage.
