It’s about acceptance

The tree in the photo stands right outside my room here at Michael Singer’s Temple of the Universe in Alachua, Florida. I’m back for my third visit, something I’ll write about later in the week.

But today’s piece is yet another from the man, the myth, the legend, Ram Dass who, not so incidentally, visited Mickey’s temple a couple of times way back when.

Ram Dass and Mickey’s Great Adventure

Quick story about Ram Dass at the Temple. When he visited the Temple around 1976, Mickey had just finished the software package that would be known as Medical Manager.

He asked Ram Dass to come with him to drop it off. So Ram Dass got in the passenger seat and off they went.

Mickey had him hold onto the software package. As they drove off, Ram Dass matter-of-factly asked Mickey: “So. Is this thing any good?” To which Mickey replied, “I don’t know. I guess we’ll see.”

Not long after, that package Ram Dass was holding would become the number one software program used by doctors’ offices for billing. In all of America. WebMD bought Medical Manager in 2000 for $5 billion.
