Ruport the Fox has Hypertension
Or does he?
My friendly fox friend Rupert may have hypertension.
Or it might be measurement error.
His doctor’s office follows none of the best practices for accurately measuring blood pressure.
But for the moment, we’ll ignore the fact that it is probably measurement error. After all, his doctors are ignoring the possibility, not even mentioning it to Rupert and just giving him pills.
The list of potential side effects is barely seven pages long. Presumably, they aren’t worth mentioning since his doctors didn’t mention them.
Being a good “compliant” fox, he will faithfully take them four times a day for the rest of his fox life. He won’t consider getting help with his stressful chicken coup raiding business. Or getting enough sleep.
It is like that deep breathing to stimulate the vagas nerves for one minute four times a day would work as well as the pills and be guaranteed to be side effect free. It would almost assuredly have other good effects on his life.
But one minute of deep breathing four times a day is too difficult.
So he’ll just pop pills four times a day for the rest of his life.
Perhaps he was born with a typical human soul rather than a wise (or at least sly) fox one.
