This is a special week in Italy: it’s the week of Sanremo music festival. Everybody watches it on tv and comments about it. Everybody feels special and sings, even if we are off-key. Some people love the festival, others don’t think it’s special, but they still watch it.

I love this week because of my neighbors. They are two sisters who watch every single minute of the show, while commenting and singing along. I hear their voices through my living room, which is separated by a wall to theirs.

The two women laugh, sing, and talk loudly, while projecting their emotions towards the tv host as if he was in their apartment.

I sometimes get surprised by the performance of special guests because I can hear their voice through the wall.

Every night the show ends at about 2.00 am, I don’t know how my neighbors are able to go to the office the following day. It must be a tiring week for them.

Like every Italian, the two ladies enjoy life and music. They make me feel proud of my country.

Every year, when I meet one of my neighbors after the festival and I ask them if they watched the festival’s show, they always reply with, “I just watched a few songs.”
