You wake up, grab your phone and start scrolling on social media. You don’t feel the same pleasure you felt before. Suddenly, an idea comes across your mind. You know you can do better than this. You’re tired of this lifestyle. You want to change, but you don’t know how.
If you want to reach your full potential, here is how to start your self-improvement journey.

Figure out what’s wrong

A lot of people that aren’t happy with themselves know the problems. They just can’t face them! As someone who has always been looking for ways to improve, I know you must analyze yourself first.

Find the bad things in your daily routine and figure out how to replace them. Figure out who you want to be, and work for it. For most people, it will be hard not to eat junk food or watch TV. It takes discipline.

Go take a ten-minute walk in nature. Boom! You’re already more productive than you would be while scrolling social media.

Little things will make a huge difference

People don’t realize this, but little things like making your bed as soon as you wake up are a sign of discipline. That way, you start your day off with a win. It will translate into the rest of the day.

You can work out in the morning. It doesn’t have to be a crazy two-hour workout. Forty-five-minute workouts are enough to get in excellent shape. This way, you begin your day in a good mood. Little things matter!

Set goals

You must set goals for yourself. Whether it is for a hobby or career, having goals will help you with focus and effort. They motivate us and make us more productive. Write them down, so you can track your progress over time.

Completing your goal will make you happy and satisfied. But remember, it’s not over. You should never be satisfied. You can always do better and do more work. A lot of people might misunderstand this. You should be proud of yourself and what you have achieved, but you must have that hunger. Hunger for more work, for being a better version of yourself.

Choose your friends carefully

If you spend most of your time with someone rude and lazy, chances are you will become the same.

You must understand this. It is better to have no friends than fake friends. I’m not saying reject everyone. A good friend group can help you a lot in life. But you shouldn’t be sorry for losing fake friends. It will happen in your self-improvement journey.

That’s why you have to be your own biggest fan. Learn how to be happy alone. It can only result in you being more productive and ready for work.

Work out

The most important factor in your self-improvement journey is working out. By going to the gym, you will develop good habits. It will translate into your other work as well.

You will also become strong and better looking, which will help you feel good and boost your confidence.

The hardest thing in working out is showing up every single day. It’s true! Showing up is more challenging than actually doing the workout. But everyone has that good feeling after a workout. I’d recommend you remember it next time you don’t feel like going to the gym. It will be easier.

Stop caring about other people’s opinions

Young people, these days, don’t realize the importance of this one. You have to understand that nobody cares. You create problems in your head that don’t exist. Try not to overthink.

Don’t tell everyone everything. They will ruin your dreams and make you think you are worth less. And don’t compare yourself to others. Focus on yourself and your personal growth. People only care about themselves, so you be you.

“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”

― Ernest Hemingway

Patience

Be patient! Changes won’t occur overnight. You have to do the same things every single day to achieve something. It might be boring, and you won’t feel like doing these things, but think long-term. What will help me reach my goals?

Self-improvement will lead to a happier and more successful life. It won’t be easy. You will have to make some sacrifices. But, if you truly want something, you will work for it, and it will, with determination, eventually pay off. It is the first step to success. In the end, it’s all discipline.

“Only through suffering do you have change and self-improvement”

- Naval Ravikant

Think about this and make the change now. Don’t make excuses. Go and be the best version of yourself.
