Knowing when to stop consuming and start producing is crucial to productivity. Information consumption can be as addicting as social media and Netflix.

I am a serial online course collector — Jill of many skills, master of none. I’ve signed up for many courses, paid and free, and learned just enough to fumble through, never truly mastering the course concepts to produce anything with it.

Overconsumption can lead to an accumulation of unfinished projects, which leads to frustration and feelings of failure.

A good rule of thumb is to spend a reasonable portion of your time learning and gathering information but also allocate dedicated time for taking action and creating something tangible.

Setting a deadline for the research/learning part of the project and a final deadline for the completion of the project will help keep you on track.
