Adapting your routine for the cold month of November is a very important step in the transition to winter.

One of the most important changes I make every autumn is incorporating more hydrating products into my daily routine.

●Hydrating mist/essence

I apply this before a nourishing serum, especially if I have used exfoliating products beforehand. This kind of product sets the base for the others products to penetrate the skin and hydrate it in depth, not just the surface.

●Hydrating toner

This is usually a bit denser than an essence, and milky toners are more recommended to try, especially if you have dry skin. After using this type of product for approximately 2 weeks, I could already notice the shine it gave to my skin, reducing texture as well!

It is very important to note that not only exfoliation will reduce skin texture. To get rid of it, you must pair up exfoliation with high hydration because dehydrated skin gets flaky and textured.

●Sleeping mask

Now, this step will make you feel simply luxurious! Use a sleeping mask once or twice a week, so your skin can receive hydration and nutrients all night. When you wake up, your skin looks more refreshed and healed. As I like to say, the road to healing your skin is paved with lots of hydration because it means regeneration!

●Oclusive moisturizer

This step is not appropriate for all skin types. It consists of using a thick moisturizer on top of all your previous products in order to seal hydration in. Also known as “slugging”, it surely works wonders on normal and dry skin.

On oily skin, though, it can become tricky. Many people with oily skin report slugging to clog further their pores, which results in acne breakouts. Personally, I went through an oily skin period, and I paired slugging with a throughout the cleansing routine. For me, it did wonders, turning my skin back to a normal skin type.

Therefore, don’t miss out on all the advantages hydration provides your skin with! Choose from the list, the products that might work for you and try to experiment a little, adapting your routine to your skin concerns, skin type, and of course, time of the year!

Low temperatures, wind, or even low humidity can turn normal skin into oily (dehydrated) or dry skin, so hurry up and adapt your routine in the transition to winter.
