Smartphone Photos Are Dumb!

Go Back to Old Ways For A New World?

Despite the Instagram and selfie-obsessed world we live in, I truly think smartphone photos are stupid. Do you know why?

Because everyone I know is snapping pictures away to glory purely for the “likes” and reactions it will elicit. Not for the actual savouring of memories. Sometimes I wonder if people can actually describe their trips anymore without the crutch of a digital image.

Everyone I know has a bazillion photos filling them 256GB phone memories but no one seems to ever take a second look once they finish the photo session. Thanks to “cloud storage” we seem to revel in using our photo folders like an infinite Black Hole, never to be retrieved out again!

Does anyone ever download or delete the images from their phones?

Even if someone does share pictures; it is a barrage of 50+ images of the same setup from 40 different angles. Out of which perhaps 2 are print-worthy.

It makes me long for the simpler times (aeons ago) when my dad would bring out his trusty camera and round up everyone for a “still”. We would all be literally holding our breaths, grinning ear to ear; eager not to blink.
