So Much Loss For A Counterfeit $20 Bill

George Floyd should be remembered as a symbol that racism needs to end

Racism continues

A worker at a small store in Minneapolis called the police when he suspected that a customer had used a counterfeit $20 bill. George Floyd was a Black man who had gone into the store with a friend to buy something. After making their purchase, they returned to Floyd’s car which was a Mercedes. The two men seemed to be in no hurry to get away and were there when police arrived.

The police officers spoke with Floyd. When Floyd was out of the car, a white police officer put his knee on Floyd’s neck as he lay on the ground. The other officer was of Asian descent. Two other officers arrived. None of the police officers told their fellow officer to stop as Floyd pleaded with him that he could not breathe. Paramedics arrived, but Floyd died.

The killing of Floyd was a tragic event which should not have happened. Now everyone knows his name after his death was caused by the brutality of a police officer. That event sparked numerous demonstrations throughout the United States as protests against racism and police brutality of Black people.

As angry people took to the streets, some peaceful protests turned violent. There was the destruction of property…
