Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone: Lessons Learned from a Podcast Host

Saurabh Kaura, the host of the Ultimate Global Podcast, believes that the way to achieve things in life is by stepping out of your comfort zone. He graduated with a master’s degree and started his podcast, where he interviews leaders and innovators. He also organizes meetups on Sundays for bushwalking on some of Sydney’s finest trails.
Here are some key points he made on how to add value:
- Layers on how you can add value: Most of us are into jobs and that is the top layer on how we are adding value. Adding value to the company and the people around us.
The next layer is doing something that is not related to your work. For example, Saurabh started a podcast and organizes meetups. It can be different for others. We need to figure out what our unique value proposition is and try to add value.
The possibilities are endless. The important thing is to find something that you are passionate about and that you can contribute to in a meaningful way. - Saurabh has spoken to more than 100 leaders and innovators, and he has found that they all share a few common traits:
✔ have a purpose and a clear vision
✔ are always looking for ways to add value to others
✔ are very curious - When you start something solely with the intention of making money, and after 2–3 months, you see no returns, you might consider giving up. But if you’re genuinely fascinated by the journey and remain curious, the money may eventually come as a byproduct of your passion.
This is precisely the case with Saurabh. He’s been running his podcast for two years, and the meetups have been going on for a year now. What’s kept him going strong is his sheer passion, not the pressure to make money from them.
Stepping out of your comfort zone can be challenging, but it is also one of the best ways to grow and learn.
