Why we should stop hating on the 9–5’ers. (We’re essential to the world)

“Hustle hard. You’ve got to grind for it. Don’t be a slave to the system.” You’ve heard it all before.

Don’t get me wrong, I love entrepreneurship and I’d class myself as entrepreneurial. But, since hanging out with more entrepreneurs over the last year, I’ve noticed an arrogance in entrepreneurship that doesn’t sit well with me.

It’s like there’s ‘them’ and ‘us’: entrepreneurs vs 9–5 slaves. Or, as they like to think of it: the enlightened vs the unenlightened.

I’ve been on both sides of the fence; I think it’s much more nuanced than entrepreneur evangelists have you believe.

Hearing this really winds me up. Entrepreneurs who spout this get my goat in a special kind of way.

Just because we might not have our own business formed of our own creation, doesn’t mean we lack vision or ambition.

The desire to further an existing vision, originated by someone else isn’t a substandard
