Based on my 1 month of experience and research, stories about writing, technology, self-improvement, and personal growth go viral easily on Medium.
Still, there is hope for us, the new writers. Because this platform is not for celebrity writers only. Here, readers value great ideas.
Despite those above-mentioned 3 categories, stories with fresh and innovative ideas go viral in any niche.
However, in every viral story, authenticity matters.
I have seen and read many stories with attractive titles, but they clearly described nothing in the main body. And trust me, those articles have poor reading time. They don’t get many claps and comments as well.
Readers skim and leave. They hardly read that author next time.
Know your audience well!
Know your readers. To connect with them, read your writings first as a reader. Let me give you an example. When you are writing something about technology, don’t give your readers the advice to pray regularly!
Just focus on your readers’ concentration.
Why readers are going to spend their valuable time reading you?
It’s all about fresh ideas. Provide your readers with interesting and valuable ideas. Ideas that matter. Ideas which you’ve followed or other people follow and got benefits from.
Let your ideas be in their thoughts for some time. Let their life change for something good!

Some writers claim that quantity matters on medium. They ask us to write at least 1 story every day.
But to me, my every story runs with my name so quality and brand value matter. I write 3 to 4 stories per week.
Consistency matters!
Show up regularly, even if you are busy otherwise. Write 1 story per week at least.
Correct images and catchy titles attract people.
Don’t forget to use the image your story requires. Always try to put the image just under the title.
Remember, a catchy or likable title accomplishes your job 60%. Try to use emotional and powerful keywords in your headlines.

Alone, you can’t go far! Try publishing your stories with different publishers here on Medium. It grows your stories’ reach, even beyond your imagination.
Try to write through a major publication with millions of followers to get your real boost.
Follow the potential readers!
Read as many stories as you can focusing on your niche and follow other readers from the comment section so that you get some serious readers around.
Don’t forget to highlight, clap or comment on other people’s stories as well, to get your lucky followers.
Keep patience and research.
Nothing great happens in a day, so take your time. Focus on your writing and research. Try writing different types of stories to get your best ones.
