Stricter Gun Laws Won’t Save Our Children

Why are American kids so angry?

Joe Biden is a powerless man. And everybody knows it.

Mr. President is condemning the 27th American school shooting this year, which happened in Uvalde, Texas. 19 children and 2 teachers have died tragically.

And what’s Joe Biden’s solution?

He demands stricter gun laws. That’s it.

This solution is a naive quick shot. Because the real problem goes far deeper than that.

A Sociopathic Society?

The current debate about mass shootings in schools is reduced to a dangerously simple thinking pattern:

Problem: When kids have access to guns, they just kill each other.

Solution: Make access to guns more difficult.

That’s it? Are you serious? Is it really that simple?

To me, this kind of thinking is sociopathic.

The real question we should ask ourselves is the following:

Why are America’s children so angry?

Why are they so angry that they kill themselves on a constant basis?

How come children are filled up with endless rage and hate?

How To Traumatize Children

When it comes to answering that question, let me state some uncomfortable facts about modern society:

  • “The average American child will have watched 8,000 murders on television by the age of twelve” (source)
  • “Over 37% of children have experienced cyberbullying. Around 30% have been targeted more than once.” (source)
  • “Since the rise of smartphones in 2009, suicide rates of girls between 10 and 14 years increased by 151%.” (source)

I could go on and on, but you get my point.

America has designed a society that makes it almost impossible to raise emotionally healthy children.

Or, to put it more harshly: America is traumatizing its children.

The famous psychologist Carl Jung once said:

“It is becoming ever more obvious that it is not famine, not earthquakes, not microbes, not cancer but man himself who is man’s greatest danger to man, for the simple reason that there is no adequate protection against psychic epidemics, which are infinitely more devastating than the worst of natural catastrophes.”

The only way to fix our aggressive, stressed, and traumatized society is to fix the human psyche itself. Everything else is just a short-term solution.

The problem is, however, that fixing the human psyche is extremely difficult. Almost nobody wants to do it.

We want simple solutions instead. We want the government to tell us what to do. We want simple laws that can be followed without thinking too much.

Until the next shocking school shooting hits us “by surprise”.
