Stroke

My father suffered a stroke in July, this poem describes how I envision he must have felt during it

Darkness, fear, doubt about life.
One day in July, something changed.
Lying there helpless next to my wife.
Wires crossed, thoughts rearranged.
World became dark, unable to move.
Knowing but not knowing felt scared.
Like a record who’s needle skipped…
