AI is not going anywhere; in fact, it will only get better in the future. But don’t worry about AI stealing your writing jobs; instead, utilize it to improve your process and writing. AI is extremely helpful but has limitations, so it still requires you and your creativity and original ideas in a well-crafted prompt to provide direction and focus for AI to give a relevant and accurate response.
Alan Knowles, a professor at Wright State University, teaches his students how to use AI more effectively in their writing by training it using a skill called “prompt engineering.” He was initially worried about cheating and spreading disinformation when AI writing tools were introduced. However, now he is embracing AI and teaching his students how to use it more effectively as a tool to improve their writing.
