There are so many ways to keep moving these days, even when you’re stuck inside. So many exercise classes. So many DIYs. So many Medium blogs to write.
Admit it. You’re addicted to getting things done.
It’s hard to recover when you’re always in the same location. The temptation to not stop is everywhere:
Your computer is sitting right there. Why shouldn’t you work on it?
Your exercise machines are in the basement. Get on them. Only twenty minutes. Maybe thirty. Maybe an hour. Why not? Who's it going to hurt?
Sitting on the couch seems insane, lazy, and unproductive.
Go do your dishes.
Get some laundry done.
Clean off a cube shelf.
You have to keep moving! It’s how you’ve been maintaining your sanity during the pandemic.
Stopping and sitting is essential for recovering from your need to keep moving.
You can’t just GO GO GO. You need to GO STOP GO.
Resting is like punctuation.
Don’t live your life like on a run-on sentence.
Add a comma, take a pause
Add a period. Take a break.
Add an exclamation point! Take a nap.
And guess what’s on the other side of that punctuation?
Even serious athletes need to take a break.
People with concrete deadlines need to take a break.
You need to take a break. Maybe not an exclamation point, but definitely a comma.
