Taylor, the Swifties Ahead in the Race
Honest Days of Work Pays
Like millions of others, I saw Taylor Swift and her man-friend, Travis Kelce, (tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs), at the Superbowl this year. It was all very sweet, so I find it hard to believe all the news commentaries hinting at something more ominous than just a romantic affair. The idea that she is somehow involved in a conspiracy with the Deep State and Joe Biden’s administration in an effort to manipulate the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, has some in an uproar. This conservative narrative includes talk of hanging her!
"I think these people should be publicly prosecuted and hung…” (commentator Morgan Ariel).
You begin to ask yourself, isn’t she the one who’s winning? This talented and independent young woman is not even running for public office but her actions speak louder than words. Despite reports to the contrary, it seems that she’s getting plenty of good karma for someone being humiliated for her political notions. Why should she be accused of
providing positive publicity for Biden when all she did was fly non-stop from a gig in Tokyo to see her beau play at the Super Bowl?
Travis Kelce insists that they are not conspirators and that this story narrative is crazy. The simple artistry of making music or playing football is all about knowing your purpose and creating a positive path forward. The fact that both were videoed during the game for other peoples’ stories, seems irrelevant. Who thought she would hide from this? And although she
may be a shy and retiring billionaire, but she already inspires millions around the globe.
To her credit, 35,000 young people did register to vote after a link was posted to Vote.org in September of 2023 according to Ashleigh Carter’s article in TeenVogue, (Taylor Swift Helped Drive 35,000 New Voter Registrations After One InstagramPost). Is this such a bad thing?
I am not a die-hard Swiftie (?) but I do admire her and like some of her music. Perhaps it’s growing on me the more I listen to it. Couple that with Travis’ commercials for promoting vaccination shots during the Covid crisis as “Mr.Pfizer”, the pair has earned a reputation as being disgusting or social sinners by members of the far-right. I know that there are religious
beliefs that try to keep women “in their place” and similar standards that apply to NFL football players, (remember Colin Kaepernick, the former 49er, who was reprimanded for not standing during the singing of the national anthem and others who later took a knee in 2020 as part of the George Floyd protests.)
Both Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce enjoyed a night in Las Vegas after the Super Bowl 2024 victory, won handily by the Kansas City Chiefs. They have each played an exciting game, seem to have their affairs in order, can handle bad publicity, and what’s not to say the Swifts, Kelces, and Swifties are winners, not sinners, after all?
As the 2024 Presidential election looms, people will, no doubt, remember this mean-spirited scourge of the young. It may even be on some minds as they enter the voting booths. Whether some say that pop stars are responsible for the corruption of the political state, remains to be seen. I, for one, do not see a reason for panic. The winning play, for me, will come from hard work, speaking the facts, and a lifestyle reflecting the many positive elements of this country, both politically and culturally.
