Travel is an essential part of life. It’s not only a symbol of the good life. Nowhere near that, actually. It’s a refreshing way to enjoy your vacation. You get to distress, see other parts of the world, and learn about new cultures.

I always look on in envy as my friends share pictures of their travels to exotic destinations — ancient cities, tourist hotspots, and promising locations. I know..if wishes were horses!

Well, when you hold some passports, you have a relatively straightforward pass into many parts of the world. Or at least the restrictions aren’t as stringent.

And then, when you hold other passports, good luck getting a visa to some countries, even for more “essential” reasons than vacationing.

An unconditional academic admission wasn’t enough

Roll back the clock to August/September 2020. I’d just gained unconditional acceptance to read an MSc at a European university. Even with some input from the admitting university, I couldn’t land a straightforward educational visa.

As a budding built environment professional, I figured things would be smoother going by the laid-down procedure.
