Marketing is all about communication. How you convey your message to your audience can make or break your campaign. That’s why choosing the right words is crucial. Words have the power to persuade, motivate, and inspire people to take action.

But not all words are created equal. Some words are more effective than others in capturing attention, creating curiosity, and triggering emotions. To get you started, try some of the following “magic marketing words” in your next email or social post.

The 20 Magic Marketing Words

1# You

Write as if you were speaking directly to the customer. Make it about the reader, not about yourself. Use “you” and “your” instead of “we” and “our”. This way, you show that you care about their needs, wants, and goals. For example:

  • “You deserve the best.”
  • “Your satisfaction is our priority.”
  • “You can achieve anything you set your mind to.”

2# Because

Give customers a compelling reason to take action. Explain why they should buy your product, sign up for your newsletter, or follow your advice. Use “because” to connect your offer with a benefit or a problem that you can solve. For example:

  • “Buy now because this offer ends soon.”
  • “Sign up for our newsletter because you’ll get exclusive tips and discounts.”
  • “Follow these steps because they will help you save time and money.”

3# Free

Don’t underestimate the appeal of “free”. Everyone loves getting something for nothing. Whether it’s a free trial, a free sample, a free ebook, or a free consultation, offering something free can boost your conversions and generate leads. Use “free” to entice customers to try your product or service without any risk. For example:

  • “Get a free quote today.”
  • “Download our free guide on how to grow your business.”
  • “Claim your free gift with every purchase.”

4# Value

Highlight the value that customers receive for their money. “Cost” or “price” implies losing something — in this case, money. But “value” implies gaining something — in this case, benefits. Use “value” to show customers what they get in return for their investment. For example:

  • “This course is a great value for only $99.”
  • “You won’t find a better value anywhere else.”
  • “This product offers the best value for your money.”

5# Guaranteed

Make readers feel they have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Offer a guarantee that removes any doubt or hesitation from their minds. Use “guaranteed” to show customers that you stand behind your product or service and that you are confident in its quality. For example:

  • “Your satisfaction is guaranteed or your money back.”
  • “We guarantee the lowest prices in town.”
  • “This program is guaranteed to work for you.”

6# Amazing/Incredible

Customers respond to something out of the ordinary. But be careful not to overuse these terms, or they lose their power. Use “amazing” or “incredible” to describe something remarkable. For example:

  • “This is an amazing opportunity that you don’t want to miss.”
  • “You won’t believe how incredible this product is.”
  • “This deal is so amazing that it won’t last long.”

7# Easy

Let subscribers know how much easier life will be with your product or service, and then make it simple for them to take the next step in the purchasing process. Use “easy” to show customers that you can solve their problems or fulfill their desires with minimal effort or hassle. For example:

  • “It’s easy to get started. Just click the button below.”
  • “This software is easy to use and install.”
  • “This recipe is easy to make and delicious to eat.”

8 # Discover

Imply there is something new and unknown to the customer, something that offers distinct benefits and gives them an edge. Use “discover” to spark curiosity and interest in your product or service. For example:

  • “Discover the secrets of successful entrepreneurs.”
  • “Discover how to lose weight without dieting.”
  • “Discover the best places to travel in 2024.”

9# Act now

Motivate an immediate response with a limited-time offer. Use “act now” to create a sense of urgency and scarcity in your customers. Make them feel that they might miss out on a great deal if they don’t act fast. For example:

  • “Act now and get 50% off your first order.”
  • “Act now and get a free bonus worth $100.”
  • “Act now and secure your spot before they’re gone.”

10# Everything included/everything you need

Establish that your product or service is all your customers will have to buy to achieve their goal. Use “everything included” or “everything you need” to show customers that you have thought of everything and that they don’t need to look elsewhere. For example:

  • “This package includes everything you need to start your own online business.”
  • “This kit has everything you need to make your own jewelry.”
  • “This book covers everything you need to know about marketing.”

11# Never

Use this to point out a “negative benefit,” such as “never worry again,” or “never overpay again.” Use “never” to show customers how your product or service can eliminate a pain point or frustration that they have. For example:

  • “Never run out of battery again with this portable charger.”
  • “Never lose your keys again with this smart tracker.”
  • “Never pay full price again with this membership program.”

12# New

Like “free,” “new” has the ability to make people sit up and take notice. Use “new” to announce a new product, a new feature, a new update, or a new offer. Show customers that you are constantly improving and innovating. For example:

  • “Introducing our new and improved formula.”
  • “Check out our new collection of spring dresses.”
  • “We have some exciting new changes to share with you.”

13# Save

The best, clearest word to showcase monetary or time savings. Use “save” to show customers how your product or service can help them save money, time, energy, or resources. For example:

  • “Save up to 70% on select items.”
  • “Save hours of work with this simple tool.”
  • “Save the planet with our eco-friendly products.”

14# Proven

Remind customers that your product, service, or business is tried and true. Use “proven” to show customers that you have evidence, testimonials, or case studies to back up your claims. For example:

  • “This is a proven method to increase your sales.”
  • “Our products are proven to be safe and effective.”
  • “We have a proven track record of success.”

15# Safe and effective

Minimize risk perception for health and monetary loss. Use “safe and effective” to show customers that your product or service is reliable and trustworthy. For example:

  • “This supplement is safe and effective for weight loss.”
  • “This investment is safe and effective for your retirement.”
  • “This cleaning product is safe and effective for your home.”

16# Powerful

Let customers know that your business, product, or service is robust. Use “powerful” to show customers that you can deliver strong results, performance, or impact. For example:

  • “This is a powerful way to grow your audience.”
  • “This laptop has a powerful processor and a long battery life.”
  • “This speaker has a powerful sound and a sleek design.”

17# Real results

Everyone wants results. Use “real results” to show customers that you can help them achieve their desired outcomes and that you have proof of your success. For example:

  • “See real results in just 30 days.”
  • “Get real results from real people.”
  • “Join thousands of others who have seen real results with our program.”

18# Secret

Is your product or service the secret to success? Let customers know you can reveal that secret. Use “secret” to show customers that you have exclusive or insider information that can give them an advantage. For example:

  • “The secret to getting more traffic to your website.”
  • “The secret to saving money on your taxes.”
  • “The secret to making your partner happy.”

19# Instant

Instant access or downloads are more appealing than waiting. Use “instant” to show customers that they can get immediate gratification or satisfaction from your product or service. For example:

  • “Get instant access to our online course.”
  • “Download your instant copy of our ebook.”
  • “Enjoy instant relief from pain.”

20# How to…

Help your readers accomplish a challenging task or goal. Use “how to” to show customers that you can provide them with practical and actionable advice or guidance. For example:

  • “How to start a successful podcast.”
  • “How to write a captivating headline.”
  • “How to master any skill in 10 steps.”
