How to prioritize oneself, whilst still giving love to the world.

How do I keep helping, giving more of myself away, but yet keep myself sane.

But ultimately people have to help themselves. One can be there as a sounding board but the responsibility for a persons life rests on their shoulders alone. That goes for them and ourselves. So we have to prioritize ourselves.

I guess being kind to others seems easier than being kind to ourselves. But perhaps helping others is also our way of avoiding dealing with ones own problems.

Someone once told me a story. There isn’t a title to this story, unfortunately, but let’s coin it “The Boy at the Beach”.

A boy finds himself at the beach. He sees plentiful of starfish on the white, sandy beach. He wants to save them all by picking them back up and throwing them back into the sea, but there are hundreds, or maybe thousands of them.

You see, he found himself at the beach for a peace of mind, yet he is now plagued with the predicament of saving these starfish.

So he picks them up, one by one. It is never ending, and he grows weary.

What then can he do? All he wanted to do was to seek tranquility and solace by the sea, alone with his thoughts.

Takeaway:

One starfish at a time, my friends.

How are we to show kindness, and love to those we care about, when we are trying to grasp onto a lifeboat.

One starfish at a time.
