The Biggest Threat of a Second Trump Presidency
It isn’t what you think
Last Tuesday, America voted for its 47th president. Donald Trump was elected, securing 312 electoral votes, with Vice President Kamala Harris receiving 226 electoral votes.
Since then, news reporters and the general public have been dissecting the election results, trying to understand how this came to pass.
Many of us on the left fear that the United States is on the fast track towards becoming a Fundamentalist Christian Authoritarian Regime with women relegated to lives akin to the Handmaiden's Tale. We fear for our lives, our daughters and our future.
We are getting ready to hand over the nuclear launch codes to a convicted felon with a 4th grade reading level who has sworn vengeance on his enemies. A man who already staged a coup against the US government once before, who has now had 4 more years to plan what to do differently this time around.
Unfortunately, it isn’t the threat of Trump’s possible actions that is the most troubling aspect of his coming return to the presidency; it’s his inaction on Climate Change that will have the most consequence by far.
Even if Trump does nothing but sit still, watch Fox News, eat McDonalds and post on X, he is still a threat.
