When I want to make big changes, I feel like my actions also need to be big or complicated in order to work. But lately I find that the magic is in the smaller everyday things — finding simple solutions that work for me — and hopefully for you.

The ‘I’ll think about it’ rule. I’ve gotten into the habit of never saying “yes” to things immediately. I always reply with ‘I’ll think about it and I’ll get back to you’. In a world that’s always about more, more, more, it’s important to know when I want to say “yes” to things and when I want to say ‘no’.

As much as I know that saying ‘no’ sometimes is important, it’s not always easy. Especially when I’m being put on the spot. I’ve started practicing this in the last couple of years and now and I have never looked back. These days, it is very rare that I have something in my calendar that I don’t see any value in.

Even if I’m being proposed something that I think I’m going to say, ‘yes’ to, I still say ‘I’ll think about it and get back to you’. This gives me a buffer between being asked and giving my reply.

I shortened my backlog in life. My backlog is things that I still want to do, watch, read, listen to. An example of this is my Netflix…
