The Confession
That Catholic Dogma taught me that I was a sinner.
Born a sinner.
I believed the nuns.
Geez, they were “Sisters of Saint Joseph”
They wore black and white,
I was taught very early
to obey.
12 years of Catholic Dogma
No wonder I rebeled a bit.
I loved undergrad and graduate school.
I studied Religions of the World,
spirituality and education-
funny- the opposite of
those 12 years.
12 years of dressing in uniforms
blue and white-winter
pink-spring and summer
now,
I never wear blue and white
I never wear pink
How funny?
My education I must say
was solid. Straight forward.
There was no messing around.
We were moving forward, right?
Where did learning stenography
and Latin get me?
I do not know.
