The Danger of Exclusive Bonds: A Call to Universal Friendship
Why True Friendship Requires Boundaries and Balance
A wise and kind man I know once said, “When 51% of voters choose cooperation instead of competition, the perfect society will stop being a dream and become real.”
The idea of people working together for the good of everyone is beautiful, and I truly believe it will happen one day. But simply having 51% of people vote for socialism won’t make it real.
Voting is just a way to express people’s feelings. After the votes are counted, the real work still needs to be done. A person might vote the right way, but then spend the rest of the year acting foolishly.
A socialist who is full of anger, jealousy, and division ends up creating resistance that keeps both him and others like him from moving forward. This resistance isn’t necessarily bad — it can even be necessary. Society, no matter how flawed, must protect itself from breaking down or becoming worse. Taking over monopolies and running them for the public good isn’t enough — not as long as people still focus on rivalry and competition.
As long as people only care about themselves, they will continue to fear and hate others.
