The Dawn After Dark

The nearer the dawn, the darker the night

Sitting in my chair, looking out the window and I wonder,
Deep in my thinking, I let my mind surrender,

To those thoughts that I avoid most of the time,
Where am I? where am I going? Who am I?

I analyze my past, myself, and then I realize,
I have come a long way now, experienced and wise,

Learned lessons, some mistakes of my own,
So, I remind myself, the night is darkest just before the dawn.
