The Democratic Party is failing black Americans.

If you have been paying attention to the Biden/Harris administration, it’s very obvious that they are not doing well. They haven’t been able to pass any bills, inflation is destroying our economy, and all the great ideas that were pitched to voters have yet to become a reality. I’m going to be honest with you guys, I don’t think this is the answer for America, and I certainly don’t think this is the answer for black America.

When I saw Trump in office, I (like many people) was disgusted. I believed he was rude, obnoxious, divisive, and even racist and sexist. Most of all, I thought he was unfit to be president. So like many people I criticized and complained, and I could never understand how people actually supported him.

When Joe Biden got into office, I saw hope for a stronger, better America. An America I could be proud of with a leader that served me.

Then I grew up.

A year and a half later I’m 18, I’m in my second semester of college, and I start learning about the real world. I’ve spent months researching, listening, and conversing about my stance on political issues.

And the more I research, the more I realize the black community has been sold a lie. Reality is not what the media portrays it to be. While republican isn’t exactly a term I’d use to describe myself, The conservative agenda is a logical, fact-driven, and sustainable agenda for all people.

When we discuss topics like welfare, taxes, inflation, immigration, racial injustice, unemployment, abortion, and many other issues, it is important to take an unemotional unbiased stance that looks at the statistics.

More often than not, the democratic agenda appeals to the emotions of their supporters without looking at the actual facts of the issue. Everybody wants universal health care until you’re paying New York-sized taxes for a health care that really isn’t good. Everybody wants free or cheaper college until the schools go bankrupt because government funding isn’t enough. Everybody wants immigration until undocumented people are bringing in drugs, violence, and stealing jobs from Americans who have been paying taxes and supporting this country their entire life. There are give-and-takes within all of these ideas. We need to stop looking at policies selfishly and observe their long-term impact on our country and communities. Often you’ll find that they are unrealistic, not sustainable, and damaging to our future.

I think after seeing the success this country has had, it is obvious that capitalism works. That does not include racist corporations, redlining, and all the racist history that capitalism may have had in the past. Capitalism as an unbiased, non-racist system works for all people. When we discuss social welfare programs, it is important to acknowledge these are socialist programs that are anti-capitalism. Look at New York or California, they have so many social programs average people can barely afford to live there causing them to need more social programs. Every homeless shelter built is coming out of the pockets of the residents, and what you’ll find is that more homeless shelters built lead to a growth in the homeless population. So clearly these social programs aren’t solving the issue at its source.

Don’t even get me started on crime. The defund the police movement has become a giant, “I told you so”.

Look, black people, here is my message to you.

We have waited and waited on policies and bills to bring up the black community. We have been told that voting for the right candidates will change the path of poverty and chaos that we have endeared for decades. Well, what if I told you that there isn’t a policy or bill that advances us. There isn’t going to be a president that saves or rescues us, and there never will be. We thought having Obama in office was going to change things, and now we think Biden in office is going to change things. Well, here we are still sitting at the bottom of the totem pole. Joe Biden has failed to get the build-back better bill passed. He has failed to get his newly proposed voting rights bill passed. He has failed to cancel any amount of student loans. Most importantly, he allows Covid and inflation to continue to ruin our economy. (Don’t even get me started on the Russia/Ukraine business). He is failing us, just like Obama failed us.

It’s time for us to realize the only people who can save the black community is us. (Stop relying on the government)

You want to close the wealth gap, let’s make more money and invest it for future generations.

You want to stop black incarceration, stop committing crimes.

You want to make our communities safer, quit committing black-on-black crime.

You want to stop police brutality, 1. Get more black people on the police force,

2. Hold racism accountable,

3. Stop putting ourselves in scenarios to make the case arguable.

I understand these things are easier said than done. I’m not ignorant to the reality that black people are 3 times more likely to get arrested for marijuana use. However, 0% of people are getting arrested for no reason at all. So while it’s easy to call racism and bigotry (which exist and will always exist), maybe we should control what we can control and do the best with what we have. It’s difficult, but it is literally all we have control over.

At the end of the day, we have to save ourselves, and we need an agenda that allows us to do so. We require an agenda that gives us independence, less government involvement, and equality that allows us to help ourselves and thrive on our own.

This is conservatism.

Government social programs like welfare are incentivizing us to stay in poverty and rely on the government. All while the government takes money from our pockets to fund these programs. Funny how that works, huh.

Issues like single-parent households, lack of emphasis on education, lack of financial literacy, are problems of our own doing. We have literally developed a culture around making the wrong decisions. It’s cool, and it’s funny until you look around and realize that we are the poorest race in the country.

Now, I know I may offend some people and I might get called names, but I will always be pro-black first. So when I say that change starts with us, just know I don’t say in spite, or to criticize. I say it because I care, and I want change for us.

We as a people have to come together first, only then can we rise to the top of this country.
