India has taken a leap in the digital era and thanks to the digital boom, it looks like we are at home away from home. The change in the digital sector has revolutionized our way of living and thinking. Gone were the days when we had to do a trunk or std call for speaking with our parents, now it is not the same situation anymore. The letters have replaced wassup, Facebook, Insta, etc…Video calls have become much easier with just the click of a button, it is easier to make calls. Digitalization has impacted our lives to a greater extent positively.”

“Digital India” was a campaign launched by the government of India to make sure that government services are made available to everyone on an online platform and to ensure better internet connectivity in far-off places of India. Digitalization of India is important considering the fact that 60 percent of the population still lives in rural belt…The Digital India campaign was started by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Impact of Digitalization in India

  • The launching of UPI apps like gpay, Bhim, Paytm etc has made our lives much easier.No more do we need to carry our money in our wallet!!
  • More and more schemes of internet data packs are available nowadays at lower rates with good connectivity
  • Every household has wifi available. The internet boom is spreading to almost all the regions of India
  • Credit cards have wifi facilities so we do not need to worry about entering our four-digit pin, and online threats
  • Social handles apps like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook have become much easier, so it is easy to be remain updated on what is happening across the globe. The right to speak up on opinions and matters of interest has become flexible. Users can find their community of common interests and ideas!!
  • Incorporation of AI tools and apps in IT industries, medical field, and digital marketing has made an impact on the employee’s forces being more productive in terms of output
  • Apps like food apps, health apps, smartwatches, delivery apps for dresses, households, dating apps, and matrimonial site apps have made our lives much more flexible and less time-consuming. The users have the advantage of filtering the choices and selecting.
  • Apps in the field of education like e pathshala, byju’s, and Vedantu have made it easier for students to learn online with flexible hours, also it is a way to track a student's performance
  • Mid-day meal app, an initiative taken to supervise the uniformity of mid-day meals at schools
  • Kisan Suvidha App, an app that is meant for taking care of farmers by giving them information
  • Women safety apps like Himmat address issues of crime against women, and for women's grievances
  • The incorporation of Aadhar has made bank works and documents easier to handle with its unique registration number. With the unique registration number, we can apply for a house loan, get our passports verified, and open an account in the bank

The digitalization process has impacted our lives to a greater extent as with the advent of smartphones, smart TVs, and apps we have become very knowledgeable on various issues but one should know how not to misuse the effects of digitalization. Also, the rural belt still has to get more exposure to the digital world.
