The Forgotten America: Living Paycheck to Paycheck in a Divided Nation
Politicians and pundits don’t understand it’s not about the price of eggs.
While the Democrats ponder why they lost and the GOP revels in its victory to now “own the libs,” can either of them work together to really address the needs of “the American people?”
I’m not talking about the college-educated people who easily make six figures. I’m definitely not talking about the mega-rich who see dollar signs as Donald Trump cuts corporate regulation and taxes. No, I’m talking about the people who don’t get a voice.
These people don’t appear on cable news shows. Perhaps they don’t answer online or phone polls. Why? Because they’re too busy to make ends meet.
No, they aren’t complaining about the price of eggs, which seems to be the battle cry on both sides. I love it when political pundits say things like, “People are making the tough decision between paying for groceries or paying for their nanny.” I’m sorry, if you have a nanny, you’re not struggling to pay for groceries (and a GOP pundit tried to make that poor argument).
I live among those people who are struggling.
