The goal of adulthood is to let go of the other possible existences and to make the best of the one. A successful adult is one who understands that it doesn’t matter which life you ultimately pick, only that you live it well- Chris Ballas

A profound quote by physician Chris Ballas and I felt like doing some commentary on this quote. Below is my take on this.

The goal of adulthood is to let go of the other possible existences and to make the best of the one. This is a difficult task, but one that must be accomplished if success is to be achieved.

A successful adult understands that this is not a static state, but something that must be constantly developed and improved upon. In order to achieve this, individuals must be able to let go of old attachments and mourn the loss of what could have been.

They must also focus on what is currently available and work towards achieving their goals. If done correctly, this will result in a life well lived and one that can be proud of.

Choosing a life is only half the battle. The other half is living it well. Successful adults know that it doesn’t matter which life they ultimately pick, as long as they live it well.

They understand that there are no shortcuts to happiness or fulfillment, and that taking the time to enjoy the journey is key to a successful adulthood. These individuals are resilient and able to cope with setbacks and adversity, despite feeling nervous or scared at times.

They have learned how to balance their own needs with those of others, and strive for personal growth and fulfillment regardless of what life throws their way.
