The Good in Humanity
I hope whoever reads this is in a true place of happiness. Let love take control of your life and move within you. As a human, I’ve learned I can control one thing, how I react. I used to be extremly reactive. I would run with the first thought in my head and a world of trouble would come. To achieve happiness, I believe one must be capable to listen, compassionate, and have integrity.
Listening is a lost art. These days people can’t take in a full song, never mind an entire album. There’s too much coming at us at all times. Our attention spans are short. It doesn’t help having mini-computers on our bodies at all times. Our devices give us the ability to connect with anyone at any time. While I do find this technology to be awesome, it has weakened the connection people have when spending time with each other. No dinner happens without multiple phones disrupting the conversation, causing everyone to get distracted.
With our tech giving us space between whoever we are battling in a Twitter thread, we feel safe saying things we would never say to someone’s face. If you’re looking for some compassion, Twitter won’t be the place to find it. People give off this persona of perfection online. When the flaws of one are out for people to see, they will tell you everything about you that is wrong, stupid, and ugly.
