Most of us are already aware of the basic oral hygiene, like brushing our teeth twice daily, flossing, and being careful of foods that erode our enamels etc. But do we also know that poor oral hygiene can adversely affect the entire body too?

Let us look at some of the four most common ones and what we can do about them.

Eroding Enamel

Eroding enamel is when the enamel of the teeth is dissolved, as they have been softened by contact with acidic foods. Enamel is the protective coating of the teeth and covers the more sensitive part of the teeth.

Eating acidic foods and drinking too much alcohol can cause our teeth to wear away, that is erosion and loss of enamel. Eroding enamel can give rise to bulima, tooth grinding, and gastroesophageal reflux. A chronic acid reflux exposes the teeth to erosion.

Tooth erosion can cause severe tooth pain, yellowing, cavities and infection.
