The Importance of Valuing Others’ Time: A Reflection on Almost Missing an Appointment
There was more than one pain in the butt yesterday
After several days of preparation, it was time to catch the bus to the clinic. It was time for another colonoscopy. The prep was a pain in the butt. The night before the procedure I slept little. The bus arrived on time and it relieved me that one of my favorite drivers was at the wheel.
Me and my wife boarded the bus. Our driver told us he had one more passenger to pick up. There was a passenger on the bus with us. The person we were picking up next would make it four.
It begs the question, why didn’t she go to the bank the day before?
As we arrived at the apartment complex, another bus was leaving. Our driver stopped in front of the apartment and we waited. I hate waiting for anything. The longer we waited, the more agitated I became. The driver called the person. She was on the local bus we passed on the way in.
It’s a logical thing to do if you’re a selfish idiot. She decided to go to the bank. She told the driver she would be right back. We all know where this is heading. The bus driver called her back several times.
