Did you know that incense and human beings are more alike than you think…

I open the drawer, and move some objects, I find a variety of incense, and I choose one. Today I chose the scent of rain because I feel melancholic. I close the drawer.

I take the incense holder, place it in the hole, take the lighter, and light it. A deep red flame appears, it burns, it burns strongly.

I blow on it carefully, without extinguishing it completely.

The smoke envelops me, envelops me, embraces me.
Its aroma surrounds me, so sweet, so subtle, so fragrant. It reminds me of spring days, so full of life, of happiness, no worries, just peace. The sweet scent resembles the fruit trees and the subtle, fragrant flowers in my grandmother’s yard.

What can ruin this moment of youth and pleasure?

The ashes. I see it. I see how that incense is consumed, little by little, without stopping. The clock doesn’t stop, its vitality doesn’t stop either.

It begins to smell strong. As it is consumed, it gives off a more powerful aroma. This could mean that, as time goes by, it will be consumed, but it will leave us with more pleasures and knowledge.

Such is the life of an incense, little by little it is consumed and will only leave traces…
