Time for spring

The mash-up of seasons: A unique time of the year

Most awaited time of the year

The time of the year when its neither hot, nor cold. Neither is it raining waters, nor snowballs. Spring brings with itself a wide variety of weathers.

Back in monsoon of the previous year, I had been waiting for this time. The time of the year, when summer season is in its trailer period and the winter is having its climax. (March-April in India)

Since, we’ve already passed the climax, and are in the time of credits from the winter; we can witness the summer already. Although, there’s a different name for the trailer of summer —

Its spring!

I was on the terrace of my house. The other word for it is roof, and there is considerably enough distance for anyone to have a walk on the roof, in circles.

Its the time of the year when those breezes from the east start flowing. The same direction from where the sun rises. I usually notice these breezes of air in the night time, around 9p.m., when I’m free.

You have to be careful standing in front of the waves of cold air. A little time pass on the terrace can provide for a soothing experience of standing in the sea of cold breeze. And if you are not careful with the time spent, get distracted by the beautiful rhythm of the breezes, stand in front of them ignoring the consequences — these same breezes will drown you to one of the worst possible punishments.

What is that punishment, you ask?

Catching cold in summer!

What kind of moron catches cold in summer? Oh, what a embarrassing punishment.

In the night, these winds cover up the atmosphere of most of the city. The higher you terrace is, the better is the experience of letting those winds play with you hair.

Although I’ve had a haircut recently, so that experience cancels out for me. But, I’m sure they’ll grow back to normal before this mash-up ends.

That’s the story of the night-time, the end of day. So let’s begin with the starting — In the interval of morning to afternoon, its super hot. I don’t bother checking the temperatures, but it must be above 30 degrees (in Celsius). But suddenly, as if providing relief care to all the people in the locality, there is rainfall in the afternoon.

Seriously, the retreat of monsoon should have happened the previous year. But, these showers of rain don’t stop. They make a appearance every few weeks.

And in the interval of afternoon-night, after the rain has stopped, its evening; or twilight of the day as I like to call it judging by the gradient of colors of the sky. You think blazing hot summer and rainfall are enough for a mashup of seasons? Nope, there’s a thunderstorm. Cracking up open windows of the houses in the locality.

On days like these, when there’s a thunderstorm and rainfall almost happening simultaneously, the color’s of the sky get evaporated. Almost similar to how color from our clothes get off the fabric in washing machines, rain from clouds wash up the colors of the sky.

After 9 p.m., when I noticed it, it was both the lightning strikes and those breezes at the same time. I assure you, nothing matches the experience of standing on your roof and let the winds of early summer breeze around you.

But something even surreal is the sight of lightnings. To have various strands of lightning appear before you, in your very own vicinity; is a surreal experience. I remember the childish notion I had in my childhood.

What makes lightning happen?

Oh, that’s exactly when two clouds on their journey strike against each other, lightning is the spark produced.

A flying polythene bag is in the air. A person could keep an eye on the bag for over a minute, before losing sight of it. There’s still a kite tangled up in the cable that brings internet to my home. Those winds won’t let the kite dangle from the cable peacefully.

And how could I forget the roars of the sky? From those lightnings I mentioned earlier. It really takes up a lot of time for the sound of lightnings to surface down to the roof of my house all the way from the sky.

In one moment, I’m absorbing the winds of early summer. Completely immersed in the premium experience that feels like meadows of some high rise mountains that only have grass with them.

And in the next moment, there is flash on the buildings in front of me. What is it? Its the lightning that strike right before me.

Clearly, this is the most awaited time of the year. For me, much more than the arrival of monsoon. Monsoon has a different vibe with it. But these wind breezes of early summer? Nothing matches their aura.

Either you live in a low tier city, or the so-called developed cities in the country, the small part of things everyone gets to experience the same way are these performances by mother nature. I give the trailer of summer a rating of 5 stars.
