How many times have you waited on a goal or postponed a project, saying I’ll do it when the time is right?

Nothing is wrong with that except when we say that we have a vague idea in our brain about the right time.

When we say we’ll do things when the time is right, we tend to overestimate ourselves in the future. In our minds, we picture the future and glamorize it like a picture from a glossy magazine. Somehow, the idea of the future seems more appealing to us. We put the future on a pedestal, hoping it can turn everything around us.

We think we’ll have more time in the future, feel less stress, have more energy, etc. We think of it as a life jacket that can pull us out of the never-ending cycle of procrastination.

Couldn’t we be more wrong?

Here’s a shocker: Having more time puts you at a greater risk of wasting it. And there’s plenty of research that proves it. The more you push things into the future, the more likely you are to procrastinate.

As surprising as it may sound, limitations and time constraints lead to higher productivity
