Missed part 1? It involves a pig in Thailand, Prince Philip & the beginning of the trail.

When day 11 came to a close, my body felt better. I had just hiked 66 miles over 2 days, though 3 of those were irrelevant because I went the wrong way. Yes, I know. I hiked the 66 in the company of Max, an Israeli, and American Pie, who was hiking in his home state like many others. Sandwiched between those 2 days, and fuelling the second, was an overnight stay inside Sunrise Cafe (mile 151). It was a short hike off trail but in return, huge burgers greeted us and we were provided with a place to stay. Knowing a storm was brewing, the owner offered his restaurant as refuge to 8 smelly hikers — complete strangers — for the night. Just one of the many incredible gestures of generosity that makes you realise how sound people really are. It’s so humbling.

Awaiting our burgers at Sunrise Cafe. The owner then gave us the keys and left for the night. Photo from Author.

Hi! I’m a Berlin-based Irishman waiting on an epiphany. I ramble about hiking, travel, films, and sometimes, my American curiosities. Edit: Still waiting.
