The People Inside Us

Ever heard of Multiple Personality Disorder? Here’s a very alike one that society develops in us consciously.

He was there. Hiding in that somber coin, far away from everyone’s sight, he was there. Hiding, very afraid of the thought that someone might see him… he was crying. His mind sang a wild polyphony, a certain voice kept repeating violently «STOP CRYING LOSER» while a little tiny one, barely audible, was telling him: «They too are like you. All of them cry. It’s normal. Don’t mind them.»

Fighting our thoughts, ignoring our feelings, customizing our own selves for them to suit our society, and hiding what it deems as weaknesses…

Isn’t it time to admit we all do that?

Lots of voices have come to settle within our minds. Depending on our surroundings, and on the people we are with, these voices make us act differently, like multiple personalities or even multiple persons within one body.

We all make lots. We all happen to ignore that little voice and give it up for the greedy need of being valued by people. Except we are losing our true selves in return. We are drifting from the perceptions, principles, values, and ideologies that once made us what we truly are.

It’s not to say we are fake. It’s not to say we can’t change. I don’t mean that society is all bad. However, we should not accept getting dominated by the values that we, ourselves, have once associated with society, by meaning to look fancy, to look wise and just, by glorifying rationality and trivializing irrationality, which is part of our humanity too. We shan’t get dominated by concepts we built while ignoring our inner voice and innate feelings.

Time to Reflect:

While all of this has little in common with MPD, one can get inspired from the general concept.

Why not the cure too?

EXACTLY.

As for MPD, there is no such thing as a cure, and it means you get to choose your own therapy.

It’s time for you to reflect on yourself and see which one of these voices you will decide to listen to, which ones of these attitudes are expressing your true self, which ones you’d like to get rid of to ensure your authenticity and your true spirit.

It’s time for you to retrieve your honest self, for your oneness’s sake!

I’m rooting for ya!

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for clapping too;)
