A Sprint Backlog is a plan by and for the Developers. It is a highly visible, real-time picture of the work that the Developers plan to accomplish during the Sprint to achieve the Sprint Goal.

A sprint backlog is a list of work items your team plans to complete during a project sprint. These items are usually pulled from the product backlog during the sprint planning session. Scrum cannot work without the sprint backlog. It helps by:
- clearly defining what the scrum team needs to complete a project successfully;
- tracking the amount of work that’s been done in a sprint and what still needs to be done to hit all targets by the Sprint’s deadline;
- accurately estimating how much work they can take on for future sprints. With the daily updates to the sprint backlog, the scrum team can get a better knowledge of how long it takes them to get tasks done and, as a result, how many action items to take on for future projects;
- maintaining a high-level overview of where the tasks scheduled for a sprint are at — either in the to-do, doing, or done stages.

Keeping the sprint backlog visible and showing the progress of items provides the team a way of communicating status without the extra work of creating burndown or burnup charts. A visual representation of the sprint…
