I worked 12 hours a day, 6 days a week in my early 20s.

I was an underpaid healthcare professional in a 3rd world country. When I got here in the US, I finally had the opportunity to get a decent hourly rate. So I worked long hours not because my boss required me to. It was my choice.

That’s what happens when you 10X your income — you just keep wanting more.

I was young. I wanted to earn more money. I wanted to save more so I could travel. I wanted to buy expensive things. Maybe save for a house or my future family.

Eventually, I burned out.

I don’t regret it. It helped me realize the value of time, money, and health.

The nature of having a 9–5.

The average person spends 40 hours per week, for 40+ years on a day job.

That’s more than half of your lifetime. It’s easy to make your job your entire life, instead of it just being a part of your life. You spend more time with your coworkers than your family. You spend more time in the office than at home. You think about it more often than in other areas of your life.
