The Secret to Good Writing is Discipline
How I embraced self-discipline to write every day
Olympic athletes, thriving entrepreneurs, and renowned artists all have something in common — glory, medals, money, and fame. We watch them on TV, read about their success, and wonder… were they just born extraordinary, or is there more to the story?
What we rarely see behind the curtain are the grueling hours, the relentless grind, and the days when motivation runs dry. Talent and skill might get you started, but without the discipline to show up every single day, you won’t reach success no matter how hard you try.
For a writer, that same discipline is just as essential.
Being disciplined means you have the ability to:
- Drag yourself out of comfort zone
- Bounce back from setbacks and obstacles
- Stick to your plans, routines, and commitments
- Avoid temptations when they come your way
If your goal is to develop a writing habit, then the first thing you have to do is to become a disciplined person. Strong discipline is what will keep you going even on days when your motivation is low and your creative tank is empty.
