I felt the same way when I heard about Threads, the latest offering from the Meta takeover. Nevertheless, I downloaded the app, my FOMO in full force. Fear of Missing Out… for the uninitiated.

In less than five minutes I knew threads was different and I am here to tell you why and hopefully persuade you to try it out.

But before we do that, let’s review what we know about social media. After all, this is yet another platform and time will tell if it descends into the dark abyss of the social web.

  1. Social Media caters to the exception. With the exception of the 1 in 100,000 creators (including amateurs) making money from content creation, Social media gives nothing in return, but an excessive addictive dopamine hit. You don’t save time or money, you lose it. From a personal perspective, the mindless scrolling could far outweigh real connections with the people you care about; and the pleasure addiction steals your ability to focus. From a business perspective, you are better off extending your reach through paid adverts than posting irrelevant…
