Today, while glancing through San Francisco Bay Area news reports, I couldn’t help but notice a series of preventable tragedies unfolding. Events that cast shadows over the entire community and the law enforcement practice in the region.

An investigative report published by the East Bay Times just shed light on a disturbing incident that led to the demise of seven men in police custody over some time. Such a chilling pattern came to me as a shock and disbelief. Then, it became clear to me that the pattern is the upshot of the common thread of events resulting from law enforcement’s administration of sedatives during the attempts to restrain those suspects.

Within this narrative, I would like to tie the loose ends of law enforcement and preventable incidents that have occurred, which are examples of how such events tear the fabric of our society.
