The use of Drones in searches for missing persons in recent years has changed the game as we know it. Many law enforcement agencies and families have taken to using drones to help them in their searches.

Drones can cover far more ground in a shorter time span than a human being can. Drones can also navigate difficult terrain with ease, and use Thermal Imaging Technology simultaneously.

I think it’s fair to say, a drone can provide tremendous assistance to anyone searching for a missing person, especially those in rural or remote areas.

Some of the cases using drone technology in recent years include Matthew Weaver & Brian Laundrie. There are also several solved missing person cases, that were resolved specifically because of the use of drones. We’ll talk about them in a minute.

BACKGROUND OF DRONES

Many might not realize it, but drone technology started being developed back in Europe in the late 1800s. In 1935, the first drone, known as the ‘Queen Bee’ took to the skies.
