The Woods Have Seen It All
Sweethearts exchanged sweet nothings
as the warmth of midsummer caressed them.
The towering pines beheld them dancing
to the ambient melody of the Robins.
Wildflowers oft heard the tunes of Sinatra
from jazz afficionados perched on the terrain.
They swayed to Summer Wind and Blue Moon
as though unwinding from a lecture of Ravens.
The loner’s lips held his cigarette in place
as he felt out of place in this world.
The elderly canopy rustled her leaves
and painted his face with gold.
From dawn of love to strangers overnight,
birthday bashes to camping trips in fall.
Its dwellers have countless tales to tell
for the woods have seen it all.
