There Are 3 Ways to Write on Medium, but Only One Makes Sense
I made all mistakes, so you don't have to
I joined Medium's Partner Program in 2018 — an era often called the golden days of Medium. I've since grown an audience of over 55k followers, attracted millions of views to my stories, built a fantastic community with 10k writers, and even launched an entire coaching program to help writers grow their audience on Medium.
This isn't some side hustle I built over a weekend but my job.
I spent thousands of hours studying online writing and marketing, testing dozens of tools, and making hundreds of tiny mistakes.
I interviewed dozens of writers and creators to learn from their experiences too.
Yet, I constantly see new writers complaining because "if they had discovered Medium earlier, they would've succeeded too."
They believe timing matters more than anything else and end up publishing their work on weird, scammy sites because someone told them that's "the next Medium."
But the truth is, being first is overrated. You should aim to be better instead.
Most beginners aren't willing to work as hard as most experts did. They only see the final result and want to get there as soon as possible.
I wrote for 1.5 years without getting much traction or feedback:
It took me years to achieve tremendous results, such as my first million views or my first 5-figure month.
If you're looking for a consistent and reliable way to grow your audience, Medium is still one of the most rewarding options.
But it's certainly not a way to "become rich quickly."
Even though the online writing landscape is changing, Medium is still an underrated opportunity for writers who genuinely care about their message and audience.
Yet, the platform will only reward you if you know how to use it.
