The Woodlands, Texas, is a master-planned community about 30 miles north of Downtown Houston.

The beauty of this community is that trees have the highest priority. When you drive around in The Woodlands, all you see are trees. Everything is behind the trees. No neon signs or business marquees are distracting you away from natural beauty.

When you buy a property in this master-planned community, the deed restrictions include this clause.

It is here that I saw the bald eagle pair sitting in a tree looking at each other.

As I have mentioned before, the seven ladies from our creative writing class and I were responsible for the birth of The Woodlands Writers Guild in December 1990. It is still going on 30 years later, and I pop in once in a while to remind them I was one of the founding members so they can formally appreciate me. Lol.

Today’s story is a response to SCBWI’s daily prompt, woodland. Thank you, Amy Marley, for your invitation to play along.

Here are some jewels from other players.
